Winners for the 2016 Magnificent 7th District Benevolent Fund Scholarships have been determined. The raters stated they found it difficult to rank this year and thank all for thier hard work. The essays were extremely good but as in the past one did rise above others and it is attached.

Active Duty Death Announcement 04/28/16 - IAFF local 2464
It is with great sadness that the Walpole Firefighters, I.A.F.F. Local 2464 announce the active duty death of Firefighter Ryan Ferreira. Brother Ferreira passed away on April 25th 2016 after suffering a medical emergency.

Bill To Help Firefighters Diagnosed With Cancer Heads To Governor’s Desk 04/27/16 - UPFFA
The Senate joined the House Tuesday in approving a bill that would create a relief fund for firefighters who are diagnosed with certain types of cancer related to their job.
The decision to establish the relief fund followed a year of fighting over a bill that would force municipalities to prove a firefighter didn’t get the cancer while working for the town.

2016 Missouri Fallen Firefighter Memorial 04/26/16 - IAFF Local 42
The 2016 Missouri Fallen Firefighter Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 Candlelight Service at 9:00 PM and on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 10:30 AM. Both events will be held rain or shine. IAFF Local 42 Brothers Larry Leggio and John Mesh will be honored at these events.

Group 1 battles 2 alarm fire on Lakeview Ave 04/26/16 - IAFF Local 853
Firefighters were called to Lakeview Ave around 2:30 and arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor from three windows of a 3 story building. A second alarm was quickly struck as first in companies started to stretch lines to the seat of the fire and search for occupants who still might be trapped in the building. The search was able to rescue several pets but no people were found.
